Carola is certified by the American Translators Association (ATA) for translation from German into English and from English into German.
She currently serves as Administrator of ATA’s Science & Technology Division and as Webmaster on the Board of Directors of the Northern California Translators Association.
Physics PhD and Research
Carola obtained a PhD in theoretical physics from Stony Brook University, NY, USA, as a Fulbright scholar with her thesis on “Soft Gluon Exponentiation and Resummation”.
She subsequently had a successful research career at institutions such as Stanford/SLAC and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with over 40 published scientific articles.
Carola studied engineering physics in Austria and completed her studies at the TU Graz, Austria, with the degree of Diplom-Ingenieur, equivalent to a Master’s degree.
She has also consulted for various engineering companies, including Edatec, a process engineering and software firm.
Language and Culture
Carola was born and raised in Austria. As a native speaker, she therefore knows the German and Austrian German cultures and linguistic nuances.
She has been living in the United States since 1998 and has been fully immersed in the culture and language through her other volunteer activities and hobbies.
